Hohiho

Summary:

An adventurous story about a polar bear name Hohiho who travels across the land in search of his siblings (six including Hohiho) with his two saviors and masters- the Castillo step-siblings Minx and Marcello. The story revolves around the travels of the Hohiho band as well as the relationships between the people in the band. Although on the surface, the story is a simple: travel through mysterious lands, fight enemies to survive, and solve puzzles to reach the ultimate goal. But, underneath the adventurous plot lies a dark world where humans are portrayed as selfish creatures that would do anything to achieve their goals. The imperfections of human beings are explored in parallel to the simplicity of animals. Animals have basic needs and succumb to them. Humans, on the other hand, has free will and society standards. For example, this is true for the main three characters. Minx, a girl of nature, thinks in terms of her body above her head- she is happy and pure even to the very end. At the other end, Marcello, a society boy, thinks in terms of his head above his body- he eventually meets his downfall and is corrupted by thoughts of vengeance. For Hohiho, as times passes, he becomes more human with free will. He increasingly becomes unhappy and moody. He eventually discards his human side at the very end at the reunion of his siblings and live happily ever after. As for the humans that help him, most of them are punished for their selfishness, but not by any divine being. They eliminated each other- one by one. Only Maximilian Castillo, the siblings’ cousin, is left standing- a survivor who passes the story of Hohiho on by word of mouth. Amusingly, he is the character that starts and ends the story.
