Tropes

After a short talk with one of my beloved readers, I have decided to start and open up a page call “Minnie Tropes“. Basically, it works similarly to TV Tropes in that readers are able to list and have fun with certain tropes they find in my or M.P. Vo’s fiction. In order to add to this page, simply leave a comment on this page and I will edit it in eventually. Once I do, I will delete your comment :) Thank you to all contributions! You will be credited for everything you turn in~ Also, SPOILERS AHEAD!!!

Extremely Specific Racial Diversity

“It’s not too often a work will feature much racial diversity, but once you start having convoluted/rare racial backgrounds intermingling with your Koreans, Latinos, African Americans, and etc, you know you have a case of Extremely Specific Racial Diversity” -Raccoon

Examples:
♦ In Sweet Hearts, everyone seems to come from different backgrounds.
◊ “Caramel” or Carey Ace Melton himself is a mix of three+ different backgrounds…
♦ Not to mention that in Gorgeous Geek with its huge character cast has probably every diversity possible.
◊ Funnily enough, Caramel’s daughter, Juliet Heart, is a character here!

Nickname Galore

“Perhaps it is due to Minnie’s personal preference for nicknaming others, but her characters also call each other by countless nicknames. It seems at times that everyone must have at least one nickname.” -Catherine

Examples:
♦ In Spirits, Dan Light in particular has a different nickname depending on who is speaking to him. He’s been called from “Aurora” to “Rainbow” before.
♦ Let’s not forget “Caramel” for Carey Ace Melton, “Crystal” for Jamie Yuan, “Meggie Bunny” for Megami Matsuda, “Kim Chi” for Kevin Lee, and many others in Sweet Hearts.
Quinn Darington calls the rest of the cast by their middle names. Does that count?
Jezebelle Phoebe Tilly alone from Gorgeous Geek doesn’t seem to run out of delicious food nicknames for her boyfriend Jin-Kyong Song
◊ What about Rin Hamada? She’s affectionately known as “Rin-chan” or “Ri-chan” in Jordan Greene‘s case…
Eulalia, the main character of Eulalia, is also blessed with nicknames like “Lally”, “Lala”, and “Layla”.
◊ In addition, Casey pokes fun at the rest of the cast by purposely changing their real names to nicknames…

CHAOS IN A NUTSHELL

Minnie’s stories always have some kind of extremely simple premise, but due to the large amount of characters and/or complexity of their situations, the actual events end up being anything but simple.

EXTENDED CLIFFHANGER

For all those times you start a chapter expecting the last cliffhanger to be resolved, only to find you’re reading something completely different. If you’re lucky, it might be delayed just half a chapter. If you’re unlucky… well, just hope that never happens.
